June 4: The Detroit Red Wings defeated the Penguins, 3-2, in Game 6 of final to win the Stanley Cup.

May 24 -
The Penguins lost to the Detroit Red Wings, 4-0, in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup final.

May 18 - The Penguins defeated the Philadelphia Flyers in the Eastern Conference final and advanced to the Stanley Cup final against the Detroit Red Wings.

May 11 - The Penguins set a franchise record with their seventh straight playoff win on home ice.

April 9 - Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 26 shots from the New York Rangers to earn his second NHL playoff shutout as the Pens defeated the Rangers, 2-0.

September 17 - The Buffalo Sabres and Pittsburgh Penguins will make National Hockey League history on New Year’s Day in front of 73,000 fans at Ralph Wilson Stadium when they play in the AMP NHL Winter Classic, the League’s first regular-season outdoor game in the United States.

Tickets for the Winter Classic sold out in 30 minutes.

May 31, 2007 - Sidney Crosby is named the team captain, the youngest in NHL history.
