January 1 - Dustin Jeffrey scored his first NHL goal in a game against the Bruins.
December 30: Jordan Staal became the youngest player in NHL history to play in 200 games.
December 26: Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 37 shots from the New Jersey Devils for his 12th career shutout.
December 15: CONSOL Energy Inc. signed a 21-year naming rights agreement with the Pittsburgh Penguins and named the building Consol Energy Center.
December 11 - Petr Sykora scored his first career hat trick, after going 38 games with two goals. Pascal Dupuis also socre his first NHL hat trick in a 9-1 win over the New York Islanders.
December 6 - Jordan Staal scored his 50th NHL goal in a game against the Ottawa Senators.
December 4 - Petr Sykora scored his 100th NHL powerplay goal.
November 29 - Sidney Crosby scored his second career hat trick in a 4-3 win over the New Jersey Devils.
November 26 - Evgeni Malkin scored his third career hat trick and goaltender John Curry got his first win in the NHL.
November 15 - The Penguins wore blue and white at home for the first time in 28 years.
November 11 - Jordan Staal scored his second NHL hat trick and set up the game winning goal in overtime.
October 18 - Sidney Crosby scored his 100th NHL goal, earned his 200th assist and reached the 300 point career total in a 4-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. Evgeni Malkin had four assists pushing him over the 200-point milestone. Native Pittsburgher Bill Thomas played his first pro game at the Mellon Arena.
October 11 - Marc-Andre Fleury set a career-high save mark, 47, in a 2-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils. The Pens replaced and updated championship banners at the Mellon Arena.
October 5 - Alex Goligoski scored his first NHL goal.
October 4 - Opened the season with a 4-3 overtime win against the Ottawa Senators in Bridgestone Premiere game played in Stockholm, Sweden. |
