SEASON HIGHLIGHTS
• Leonard "Red" Kelley is named Penguins coach on July 2, 1969.

• Bob Woytowich and Dean Prentice are named to Western Division All-Star Team.

• Dean Prentice leads Penguins in scoring with 51 points (26 goals and 25 assists).

• Penguins make playoffs for the first time, sweeping Oakland, 4-0, in the Quarterfinals. Michel Briere scores the Penguins' first overtime goal on April 12, 1970.

• Pittsburgh loses four games to two in the semi-finals to the St. Louis Blues, led by Coach Scotty Bowman.

• Red Kelley is named Hockey News' "Coach of the Year." Kelley replaced Jack Riley as General Manager on May 15, 1970.

• Val Fonteyne is named the team's first "Unsung Hero"

Michel Briere is critically injured in a car accident after returning home to Malartic, Quebec leaving the rising star in a coma.
