SEASON HIGHLIGHTS
• The ice surface at the Civic Arena was reduced from 205 feet to 200 feet.

• Penguins select Pierre Larouche in first round of the 1974 Amateur Draft and William "Buzz" Schneider who later would win a Gold Medal for the 1980 USA Olympic Team.

• Penguins play in Norris Division, Prince of Wales Conference, following NHL realignment.

• Syl Apps is named MVP of All-Star Game at Montreal Forum. He is joined on the Prince of Wales squad by teammates Pierre Larouche and Jean Pronovost.

• Pens record the 200th franchise victory with a 6-1 victory win over Chicago on January 29 at the Civic Arena.

• Ron Stackhouse records six assists on March 8 vs. Philadelphia.

• Pierre Larouche leads all NHL rookie scorers with 68 points (31+37).

• Penguins set club record for wins (37) and points (89) in a season.

• Vic Hadfield wins the team's first Booster Club Award

• Penguins squander a 3-0 lead in playoffs to NY Islanders. It is only the second time in NHL history a team has rallied from a 3-0 deficit.
