SEASON HIGHLIGHTS
• Bob Berry is named head coach on June 4, 1984.

• Penguins draft Mario Lemieux, Doug Bodger and Roger Belanger in the first round of the 1984 Entry Draft on June 9, marking the first time in club history that the Penguins selected more then one player in the first round. Lemieux is the first Penguins player to be drafted first overall.

• Penguins win five games in a row from December 5 through December 15.

• Lemieux scores two goals and one assist to win MVP honors at the 1985 All-Star Game in Calgary.

• Penguins place two represenitives on the All-Rookie team, Lemieux at center and Warren Young at left wing.

• Lemieux finishes with 100 points (43+57) becoming only the third rookie in NHL history to score 100 or more points in a season.

• Lemieux is the first Penguins player to be honored with the Calder Memorial Trophy for Rookie of the Year.

• Young and Lemieux each score over 40 goals, the first time two Penguins rookies topped the 40-goal mark in one season.
